Nick Parker

Nick Parker is a great director of clay animation. He made Wallace and Gromit, Creature Comfort, and his a full length animation film, Chicken Run - among other things. Due to all of his talent and hard work, his clay animations are among the best clay animations that have ever been made. This clip is inspiring, because he talks about how he has loved animation from when he was very young, and that he used to look up to all the great animators. And today, he is one of these great animators - someone I really look up to! By the way, did you know that Wallace and Gromit have saved a cheese factory - Wensleydale Cheese.

Here are some of my sketches made in 2D animation class. Honk the clown, Buddy and Betty the orangutans, and Saffron the ostrich and Adeleie the African penguin. I make many sketches to figure out my characters and my story. It is fantastic to be able to create my own characters and make them come to life!

This is a buffalo I made out of Super Sculpey. I'm surprisingly good at sculpting. I think I would like to sculpt even more. I'm thinking of making some more of my own creatures using Sculpey and ZBrush. I would also like to learn how to make masks used for creatures in the entertainment industry. This sculpting project was sort of a side project in one of my life drawing classes. It surprised me how well I did. I am glad I was introduced to sculpting through this class. I guess sometimes when we try out new things that we didn't think about doing, it can lead to whole new passions!

Business Card Sketches

These are some of my ideas for my business card. They're also characters of mine from my 2D animations. The clown name Honk (middle left and middle right.) shows quite a cartoon expression that I'm fond of. Ferryn (top middle) is an adventurous heroine from old times. I think it shows that I can make unusual stories and things. Saffron the Ostrich and Adelie the African Penguin - these two are best of friends, because being flightless is what they have in common. My mother finds Adelie cute and adorable so she is in four business cards, but I could not leave her best friend Saffron out so I added her in two of the business cards. Hope you like them.

The Legend of Glen Keane

Glen Kean is an amazing animator for Disney. He is known to make movies with dimensional views such as Hercules, Tarzan, Aladdin, Lion king, and The Princess and the Frog. This video shows the making of Duet and how he made it with 2d animations, 3d positions, timing, and effects. It also come with a full film of Duet.
With all of this, I have gained the thought of making my own animations as real as he has made his.

Here is a pencil test I did 2D class. I made this clown in a few different pencil tests so you will probably get to see more of him on my site. This is just an example of the funny little gags that are so fun to use in a cartoon.

Early in Life

Here is one of the shows I have loved since I was a little kid. Looney Tunes!
This is a clip of when Sylvester is trying to scratch the dog as he is frightened.
Witness what happens next!

What I love about shows like this, is that it doesn't happen in real life, but in animation you can make anything happen the way you want it to.

Hello, and welcome to my place.

I'm Nicholas Cornell, and I'm currently a student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
All my life I've been very interested in things that don't often happen in reality.  I like artwork, animation and special effects because I can make anything happen. In my blog, I would like to share some of the things I make, as well as, things I see that inspire me.
